Elmhurst, IL (June 1, 2009) The International Academy of the Visual Arts
(IAVA) recently announced that Desert Rose Design has won two 2009 Communicator
Awards of Distinction for their outstanding and highly regarded work on the 2008 Mario Make Me a Model microsite for Mario Tricoci Hair
Salons & Day Spas and the
Mayhem Promotions website.
Founded by communication professionals, The Communicator Awards is the leading international
awards program honoring creative excellence for Communications Professionals. This
award gives communications and creative professionals proof and validation that
their work is exceptional.
The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the IAVA, a 450+ member organization
of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to
embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.
“The quality, creativity and execution of this year’s work is a true testament to
the talents and abilities of communications professionals from around the world,”
said Linda Day, director of the IAVA. “The entries received reflect an increasingly
diversified industry and the work once again sets the bar extremely high. On behalf

Communicator Awards and we are proud to honor the outstanding communications professionals
who continue to push a high standard of excellence.”
This year’s Communicator Awards received over 9,000 entries from companies and agencies
of all sizes. It provides an equal chance of winning to all entrants regardless
of company or agency size and project budget.
The Award of Excellence is given to those entries whose ability to communicate puts
them among the best in the field. The Award of Distinction is presented for projects
that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement. Desert Rose Design is
thrilled to have won two Awards of Distinction. “Mario, Make Me a Model, a local
model search program for Mario Tricoci, and Mayhem Promotions, a mixed martial arts
events company, are the kind of projects that make us get up in the morning,” said
Kathy Steele, Vice President of Desert Rose Design. “We were able to bring these
two unique concepts to life, and we are thrilled about the recognition each brand
has received since their launch. Receiving this award simply adds to our excitement
for each of these projects.”
