Position: Sales and Marketing Intern
Desert Rose Design is a technology-based marketing firm located in Elmhurst, Illinois.
We are currently searching for a sales and marketing assistant on an internship
basis. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and
level of work that will be performed.
The Sales and Marketing Assistant will provide administrative support to the Director
of Business Development. Duties include general research, clerical, and project
based work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with marketing campaign ideas and vehicles
- Research new market opportunities
- Assist in brainstorming sessions
- Coordinate with our marketing, sales, and technical groups to facilitate marketing
functions (i.e. eCampaigns, Case Studies, Press Releases)
- Provide status reports to management on overall sales and marketing activities
- Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
- Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing,
mailing, and filing
- Maintain and update Desert Rose Design client records
Minimum Ability, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- Experience/Interest in marketing, software development and sales
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional
journals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to multitask
- Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail

Position: Proofreader/Copywriter Intern
We are currently looking to fill a Proof Reader/Copywriter position. This position
is responsible for leading the writing and copy development. We design of a wide
range of online and offline materials that promote, support, and build brand. This
position is integral to ensuring the company's market and brand positioning is well
developed, reflective of the brand's identity, and is consistently articulated in
all written communications.
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university with advertising, communication,
creative writing or a related field and a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Excellent spelling, proofreading, and grammatical skills
- Ability to multi-task effectively under pressure and balance speed and quality
- Demonstrate ability to communicate one voice across multiple tactics
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of marketing, graphic design, and information architecture
- Must have strong conceptual skills: creating new ideas that improve customer response
- Possess willingness to work collaboratively and follow direction/lead of more senior
creative and marketing staff

Position: Graphic Design Intern
Desert Rose Design is a hybrid marketing firm that develops traditional and new
media marketing programs by combining graphic design and database technology. We
are looking for an intern with an eye for detail to assist in the production of
team-generated design work for client deliverable materials and presentations.
Duties:
- Assist design staff with production of assigned design work
- Independently produce design pieces as directed
- Provide project support, such as research, color printing output and archiving
- Assume other duties as assigned
Candidates must possess:
- Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university with graphic design-related
major and minimum 3.0 GPA
- A time commitment of 15-20 hours per week
- A positive team attitude
- A desire to learn and grow as an aspiring professional
- Punctuality and dependability

Position: Web Developer Intern
Desert Rose Design, an integrated marketing and communications firm located in Elmhurst,
is seeking a Web Developer intern for an immediate opening. The ideal candidate
should be a Computer Science major attaining their Bachelors degree and possess
an interest in web programming. Some background in computer programming, whether
through education or as a hobby, is required.
Selected candidates will be provided a small quiz prior to in-person interview.
We encourage candidates to be resourceful in using the tools available within the
Internet.
Required Technologies:
- Proficient in CSS Layout & Design, Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft Office, Adobe
Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash and Adobe Fireworks (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat and
Adobe Illustrator are a plus)
- Knowledge of and some experience with multimedia applications, database interactions,
data modeling tools and Internet protocols
- Knowledge of and some experience in writing C# for Active Server Pages (ASP)
- Knowledge of and some experience with .NET ASP/ASP.NET framework and Visual Studio
- Knowledge of and some experience with DHTML skills (HTML, JavaScript, Actionscript,
etc.)
- Knowledge of and some experience with web scripting languages (e.g., AJAX, VBScript,
JavaScript, XML and JQuery)
- Understanding of servers, networking and remote desktop
- Understanding of object oriented development
- Understanding of web architecture, file structures and file management
- Understanding of optimizing pages and images for the web to work with all platforms
and browsers
- Understanding of Search Engine Optimization
Responsibilities Include:
- Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain client Web Sites and Web Applications
using mainly CSS (HTML), ASP, JavaScript and SQL
- Manage ODBC and OleDB in a Windows 2008/IIS/ODBC environment
- Maintain, change and update existing websites/databases, and create and test new
ones as needed
- Manage technical aspects of our site and client sites and databases
- Test user interface, backend processes and Intranet
- Follow proofing guidelines and time management
