Skinos 8 page Brochure

 Challenge

A. Hardy USA, national importer of wines and spirits, recently partnered with Desert Rose to design a promotional brochure for Skinos Mastiha Spirits. Mastiha is a rare spice that dates as far back as 600 BC. It’s collected from the mastic tree, a small evergreen native to the Mediterranean, and the distilling process is rooted in a centuries old tradition. A. Hardy came to us with two existing Skinos brochures. One focused on the rich history of the mastiha spice. The other featured a collection of Skinos drink recipes aimed at mixologists. Our task was to combine the two brochures into one as a way to effectively highlight Skinos’ historical relevancy, unique flavor and modern day uses.

Objective

The existing brochures both have a distinct style: modern font choices, clean lines, elegant contours and minimalist design. That said, we weren’t looking to reinvent the wheel: maintaining Skinos’ brand standard was vital.

We recommended an 8-page brochure to accommodate the design criteria and give enough room to include all the necessary information. Printed on high gloss stock with a dull varnish to accentuate photos of bottles and cocktail glasses, each page sticks close to Skinos’ existing brand. The history, flavor and unique properties of mastiha are detailed on page one, followed by an introductory letter of welcome by mixologist, Mike Menegos. After this, reader’s flip to Skinos’ cocktail guide, featuring a gallery of bright, punchy photos and recipes.
